News and Events 2009 - 2010
This season began with a wonderful Thanksgiving pot luck. Eric and Marcy bought 70 lbs of turkey and the campers did their usual culinary skills with the turkeys, sides, salads, breads and desserts. Several days later the gals made and served homemade turkey noodle soup, with butter rolls, and since it was the first of the month, the park gifted us with a sheet cake and the gals brought the ice cream. We all came and feasted again. We’re getting ready again for the Holiday celebration on Dec 24th with a Hor de ourves pot luck and a small gift exchange.
A huge Holiday dinner will be the afternoon of Dec. 25th with turkey and ham provided again by Marcy and Eric, with all of us doing our favorite pot luck items. New Years Eve we have a professional entertainer coming to entertain us with the crooning songs we all love and then he’ll “kick it up” with some faster music. We’ll again do a pot luck of canapés, snacks, etc. while listening and dancing to the music. New Year’s Day we will rest or gather in the activity building for whatever.
Our activities so far are: Walking/hiking, (the walking path around our park is 2 ˝ miles!) stained glass classes, bingo, horseshoes, exercise class, crafting greeting cards, poker night – cribbage, cards & billiards, etc. golfing at Oasis Golf Course (other courses too), gourding (crafting gourds into art forms), game nights, wood working shop, hot tub, swimming pool, tag alongs to many restaurants, theatres, farms, and many places of interest, including outlet shops and malls close by. We are expecting more guests who are volunteering their skills to make this season fantastic.
